Second Harvest administers the Senior Box Program, officially known as the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) for our four-county region. The Senior Box program is a federally funded program whose purpose is to improve the health of low-income elderly individuals by supplementing their diets with nutritious USDA foods. Second Harvest packs over 1,500 monthly CSFP food boxes containing 40-50 pounds of nutritionally complete food including protein, cereal, rice, fruits, vegetables, and grains. We work with 25 regional partners to distribute these boxes to qualified community members. To qualify, an individual must be 60 or older with an income at or below 130% of the federal poverty line, currently $18,954 annually for a single person.
