Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Expands Fight Against Food Insecurity

As a reliable partner, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio is partnering with Second Harvest to offer food and supplies to people in need throughout our region. Their team is offering needed items like toilet paper, first aid kits, hand sanitizer, and pill containers. While people are waiting in line to register during our drive-thru distributions, Anthem team members are able to offer these much-needed items, a cheery hello, and even answer questions they many have about their coverage.

As a partner, Anthem donated $100,000 to Second Harvest so that we can provide food and groceries to those attending the distributions, as well as to those visiting the shelters, pantries, and hot meal programs run by our partner charities.

Anthem has committed to partnering with Second Harvest and five other food banks in Ohio. “We have been connected to Ohio communities for more than 80 years and are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our neighbors by addressing the many factors that influence health, including access to healthy food,” said Neil Steffens, President of Anthem’s Medicare Central Region. “Working together with community partners, like these food banks, we will have a greater impact on addressing food insecurity than individual efforts.”
