Holiday Cheer Celebrates 35 Years!

HC-2018-NEWSM

Since its inception 35 years ago, the Holiday Cheer campaign has raised over $1,000,000 for Second Harvest, equaling over a millions of meals for families struggling with hunger. A community effort led by Burger King and WOBL/WDLW, Holiday Cheer raises money each year, which is directly passed through to our partner charities so they can provide food through the food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters.

John Renuart started the campaign in 1983 with Doug and Lorie Wilber. Sully Renuart, John’s son, caries on the tradition today. Doug Wilber remembers the first year of Holiday Cheer. The campaign raised $3,500 and he remembers counting the donations, which were mostly quarters! Each year, the memories and stories abound. We are so grateful for this amazing partnership that recognizes not only the need in the community but the opportunity we all have to do something about it.

Beginning November 19th, make a donation at any of the 20 local Burger King restaurants listed here and receive a complimentary coupon. You can also donate online anytime to Holiday Cheer here. The online match weekend will be December 14, 15 and 16 this year. Help us make the holidays a little brighter for our neighbors!
