National Volunteer Month

National Volunteer Month is observed in April.  But, our amazing group of Volunteers don’t limit their service to one month!  Last year over 3,200 volunteers handled over 1 million pounds of product, filled 34K backpacks for children, boxed over 3K mobile pantry boxes for families and over 10K boxes for seniors.  We could not serve our community without the dedication of these volunteers.  Needless to say, OUR VOLUNTEERS SAVE US!

Each year we bestow the Jimmy L. Davis Spirit of Community Award to a deserving volunteer from a group of volunteers who exemplify the commitment of our late board member.  In 2017, two special people were selected

for this honor:  Carol and Paul Hiltabidel.  They are loyal volunteers, donors and supporters, each volunteering 50 to 100 hours each year since 2010 and teaching and mentoring hundreds of new volunteers.

We encourage you to nominate someone for the Jimmy L. Davis Spirit of Community Award for 2018.  You can download a nomination form here.  Please return it to Susan Hennie, Volunteer Relations Manager, by April 20 2018.

We will be honoring our volunteers at our annual appreciation dinner at the beginning of May.  At that same time we will award the recipient of the Jimmy L. Davis Spirit of Community Award and recognize all of our other volunteers who give so much of their time and talent to help us get food to those in our community in need.

“Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.”
