A Note from Julie

“I’ve seen your trucks on the road” or “I’ve driven by your building but didn’t know what you do.”

As the regional food bank for over 40 years, our community knows we help people with food but maybe not our role in the process.

There is confusion about the difference between a food bank and a food pantry. Second Harvest distributed over 11 million pounds of food last year, but it’s hard to imagine that amount of food until you see the racks of food in our warehouse.

It’s why this September, we’re opening the doors of the Nordson Food Distribution Center and inviting you to take a tour of our facility and meet our team. As our neighbors and supporters, we want you to know who we are, what we do, and the work we do every day to ensure that everyone in our community has enough food to thrive. And we’d love for you to bring a friend too!

You’ll have two opportunities to visit our facility and engage with Second Harvest. Join us for our open house on Hunger Action Day, September 9, and then help us celebrate our 20th anniversary of our signature event, Generous Helpings, on September 28.

September is Hunger Action Month, and we want to join together to create a brighter future for all by creating a healthy, hunger-free community!
