A Note from Julie

A Note from Julie

It is a new start — 2023 — and along with all our friends, family members, and colleagues, we take a moment to look back on all we have accomplished with gratitude and wonder. But now it is time to step boldly forward. Guided by our Creating Pathways strategic plan, this year, we will keep in our sites areas that need improvement to benefit the community, our volunteers, and our own workflow and staff. We will also put into action projects that will convene many stakeholders to consider the changing needs of the community and how collectively, we can best meet them.

This was the third year in a row we conducted large Thanksgiving distributions. We shared some of the insights from community members receiving food for the holidays. Take a moment to read about the partnership with Solidarity Urban Farms as part of Food Forward Lorain facilitated by our AmeriCorp VISTA, Ericka Gadomski, and meet our Emerson Fellows, Jazmyne Brooks and Taylor Unoki, and learn about their work with us in bridging the gap between our efforts and national public policy.

New initiatives are already underway to expand services to seniors, children, and their families.

We’ve accomplished a lot, but there is more work to do, but together, we can be the difference in 2023 and beyond! Happy New Year!
