A Note from Julie

It is the start of a new century -- 2020 -- and along with all of our friends, family members and colleagues; we take a moment to look back on all we have accomplished and think to the future. With all fresh starts there is an opportunity to learn from the past and consider how we need to plan to achieve our goals.  Guided by our Growing Hope strategic plan, this year at Second Harvest we will examine the areas in which we excel and identify the places to improve. We will consider the changing needs of our community and how we can best meet them.

On page 4 you can read about our Child Hunger Summit held in September, which was an incredible opportunity to bring the community together to focus on the issue of child hunger.  One thing we all agreed on was a shared understanding of the critical need to help all children in our region have the food they need to grow and thrive. New initiatives are already underway to expand serves to children and their families.

There is more work to do but together, we can be the difference in 2020!  Happy New Year!
