County Poverty Statistics

According toinformation released by the Ohio Poverty Report release by the Ohio Development Services Agency in February 2018, a total of 64,773 people in our region live at or below the federal poverty level.

The 2018 the Federal Poverty Guidelines define the poverty level for a family of four as income at or below $25,100.  Second Harvest serves Partner Charities in four counties in the North Central Ohio region: Crawford, Erie, Huron and Lorain.

Crawford County:

  • Population: 41,775
  • Population Below  Poverty: 6,566
  • % Living Below Poverty: 15.7%

Erie County:

  • Population:74,772
  • Population Below Poverty: 9,584
  • % Below Poverty:12.8%

Huron County:

  • Population:57,994
  • Population Below Poverty: 7,467
  • % Living Below Poverty: 12.9%

Lorain County:

  • Population: 294,509
  • Population Below Poverty: 41,156
  • % Living Below Poverty:  14%
