Your generosity made the tenth annual Generous Helpings a success!
With a brand-new building that has tripled the capacity of our former facility, we are already receiving over 25% more food than last year. To meet the increased demand, we recently purchased a new truck with the support of 16 clubs from Rotary District 6600, which made a generous $36,000 contribution toward the purchase. With the addition of this truck to its fleet, we can continue to safely and efficiently deliver fresh food to our 4 county service area, serving thousands of families in need.
In September we are fortunate to be a part of a nationwide effort spearheaded by Feeding America -- Hunger Action Month -- to raise awareness for hunger and how you can be a part of it. There are many ways people can get involved to take action and make a difference, but sometimes we all may wonder --“Can I really make a difference?”
September is Hunger Action Month, Feeding America® network’s nationwide awareness campaign designed to mobilize the public to take action on the issue of hunger. The campaign brings attention to the reality of food insecurity in the United States and promotes ways for individuals across the U.S. to get involved in the movement to help end hunger.
Fall is on its way, but the fun continues at Halloweekends at Cedar Point. If Halloweekends are in your plans this September, be sure to bring nonperishable food items with you. Cedar Point is hosting a food drive and will give $10 vouchers for patrons that donate to Second Harvest. The food drive is taking place on Friday evenings, Saturdays until 5:00 p.m., and all day on Sundays beginning September 13th.
