Do a good turn daily is the Girl Scout slogan. Locally, the Quarry Stone Service Unit of Girl Scouts is doing just that by hosting a Harvest for Hunger donation drive as part of their World Thinking Day (WTD) celebration.

Notes From Julie January 2016

Here we are just a few days into a brand new year. A fresh start so many of us look forward to. At Second Harvest, we feel like we were given an early shot at “brand new” in June when we moved into our new facility. Learning how to use new equipment in a new space and catching on to new routines has been challenging. With any new learning curve though there is the promise for exponentially increasing the amount of good we can do and that is becoming a reality quickly.

Operation Dough-Nation®

Panera Bread has selected the Harvest for Hunger campaign as their January Operation Dough-Nation® partner. During the month of January, Panera staff will invite guests to support Harvest for Hunger when they place and pay for their order. There are six Panera restaurants in our area that are participating: Avon Commons, North Ridgeville, Oak Point in Amherst, Cobblestone in Sheffield Village and the two turnpike restaurants in Amherst. Click here for a map. In all, there will be 47 restaurants participating throughout the whole Harvest for Hunger region.

Host a Funds and Food Drive for Harvest for Hunger

The official Harvest for Hunger season will kick off at the end of February so we are in need of businesses, organizations, churches, clubs, troops and groups of all kind to run campaigns this year. As a group, you can raise funds and foods for a great cause and at the same time have fun doing it.

Companions on the Journey

Donors often have more power to speak out about a cause that they believe in than the charity they support. For many, their donations are very personal and private so they refrain from being out front with their support. Not so for Mel and Jean Miller. They are all in and they have shared their passion and influenced so many others to see their vision.
