YOU ARE INVITED! HARVEST FOR HUNGER Kick-Off at Second Harvest Food Bank
Second Harvest added a new large-capacity truck to its fleet and delivered approximately 11,270 pounds of food to Beyond The Walls Church in Elyria in time for their scheduled Food Pantry and Hot Meal Program Friday, January 11, 2019. Julie Chase-Morefield, President & CEO of Second Harvest was present for this first large delivery and was pleased at how smoothly and quickly so much food was handled.
The official Harvest for Hunger season will kick off on March 3, 2019 so we are in need of businesses, organizations, churches, clubs, troops and groups of all kind to run campaigns this year. As a group, you can raise funds and foods for a great cause and at the same time have fun doing it.
Just in! NOW through Friday, January 25th you can pre-order three EXCLUSIVE limited-release Cleveland Clothing Co. designs to support our 2019 Harvest for Hunger campaign. Proceeds from each item purchased will provide a minimum of 30 meals to families, children, & seniors struggling with hunger in our region.
The School Pantry Program started this September as a pilot program at five sites throughout Lorain County. It is a program designed to alleviate child hunger through the provision of food to children, their families and the immediate school community. Because we partner with the schools and the distributions are located there, the goal is to provide a more readily accessible source of food assistance to low-income students and their families. Our goal is to serve entire families and increase the amount of fresh food entering homes.
