Next week, all across America, we will honor those men, women and children who have taken the time to say YES to volunteering. National Volunteers Week will be celebrated during the week of April 10-16, 2016.
What is hunger? A better question is…..Who is hunger? Those who run the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Table of Plenty Food Pantry at St. Agnes Church in Elyria can tell you. Hunger is Mary, a young Filipino woman, who is unable to work because of her severe health issues. Hunger is Brian who struggles to feed his family because of his low paying job.
What did you do on your extra day this year?
Many came out to the Nordson Food Distribution Center to help kick off the 2016 Harvest for Hunger campaign. “The kick-off is a fun and festive way for everyone who is working on the campaign to get together as we embark on this year’s challenge,” said Julie Chase-Morefield, Executive Director for Second Harvest.
What will your legacy be? Our commitment to More Food. Less Hunger drives us each day to making this a reality in our community. If you share this desire to make sure the families, children and seniors in our community are fed, you should consider this. And make some plans.
You are invited to join us for our Harvest for Hunger Kick-Off event. Monday, February 29, 2016 from 4-6PM in the Community Room at Second Harvest.
