County Poverty Statistics

According to a 2005 report by The Health Policy Institute of Ohio 67,050 people in our region live at or below the federal poverty level.

The 2009 Federal Poverty Guidelines define the poverty level for a family of four as income at or below $22,050.  Second Harvest serves member agencies in four counties in the North Central Ohio region: Crawford, Erie, Huron and Lorain.

Crawford County:

Erie County:
  • Population:   78,709 1
  • % Living Below Poverty Level:   14.1% 2

Huron County:
  • Population:     60,234 1
  • % Living Below Poverty Level:  13.18% 2

Lorain County:
  • Population: 291,164 1
  • % Living Below Poverty Level:   14.7% 2
